Flash Floods In Central Italy, 11 Dead And Four Missing

Flash floods in Italy, there are 11 dead and four are missing. Accordingly, flash floods have hit Italy’s central Marche region. It has left at least 11 people dead and 50 injuries.

Now, there are additional four people who were missing, according to the authorities.

Flash Floods In Italy

There are severe weather conditions that have wreaked havoc in the coastal town of Ancona. Accordingly, it has been raining up to 400 millimetres in the space of a few hours. 

Accordingly, there were hundreds of firefighters  to rescue individuals who were stranded and caught up in the floods. They offered them lifeboats and assistance. 

However, reinforcements are also due to arrive from other Italian regions, including Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, and Abruzzo. As a result of flash floods, there was an eight-year old girl and her mother missing. 

On the other hand, some of the victims had  to climb up trees or scramble onto rooftops to await rescue. Thus, in Ancona, many areas are without electricity. And, the whole region was left in the worst affected situation.

Statement Of Riccardo Pasqualini

Riccardo Pasqualini, the mayor of Barbara, told Italian state radio. 

“It wasn’t a water bomb, it was a tsunami.”

He has called the rescue teams after the sudden downpour Thursday evening that devastated his town.

“We hadn’t seen [anything] alarming,” he added. “There wasn’t any time to intervene [in some towns], there were some people who maybe were driving or had left home without being aware of the risks.”
