France used an AI tool to detect 20,000 undeclared Swimming pools. The tax authorities in France say artificial intelligence has helped them. They jointly raked in €10 million by detecting undeclared swimming pools.
Accordingly, the AI software identified properties using aerial images and checks. To make sure if any pools have been declared and are correctly taxed.
France Used AI To Detect Undeclared Swimming Pools
Now, the french authorities will identify Swimming pools, whether in-ground or above-ground. So, they must declare as they increase the value of the property.
For this purpose, France has used the AI technology on a regional basis but will now roll it out nationwide. Accordingly, the AI software has a partnership with the consulting firm Capgemini and the google.
Additionally, they have tested in nine regions. Those include Anne-Maritimes, Var, Bouches-du-Rhône, Ardèche, Rhône and Haute-Savoie. Thus, it revealed over 20,000 Undeclared Swimming pools.
Tax Estimates And Implementation From DGFiP
The Directorate General of Public Finance (DGFiP) made the tax estimates on Swimming pools and implemented it. It confirmed the tax implementation in all the regions in France from September.
Now, this will represent nearly €10 million in additional revenue for the municipalities. That is mainly concerned for the year 2022 alone.
However, they collected €5.7 million out of €10 million to rectify the lack of taxation in previous years. And, about €4.1 million are under the 2022 property tax. Thus, this will constitute a “permanent” resource for municipalities.
