The French government has passed a landmark law. This time in France, there is no obstacle for lesbian and single women to become mothers. The government later enacted IVF treatment to legalize the way for lesbian and single mothers.
IVF or in vitro fertilization is a type of scientific medical procedure by which a woman can become a mother without any sexual intercourse. Although IVF has been practiced in France for a long time, it has not been legal for homosexuals.
The issue of granting the right to be a mother to lesbians and single women has been hotly debated in the French parliament for long years. But recently it is passed with nearly 500 hours of debate over the past two years.
Finally, the law was passed unanimously by the lower house of France, with 326 votes in favor. Although 115 votes were cast against.
What is in this law is already known that the law gives lesbian women the right to be mothers in the IVF system. Also, any single woman can become a single mother using this treatment. Besides this the law is vague about surrogacy and sperm donation of transgender. Though the issue of sperm doners has long been legal in France.
However, the law states that if a child born in a scientific way wants to know his biological father after 18 years, then the woman must be introduced to her father.
