The countdown for the first version of Kashmir Premier League (KPL 2021) began with a grand launch – The KPL Draft event which was held on 3rd July in the national capital, Islamabad.
The Kashmir Premier League which is scheduled to be played from August 6th has a total of 6 participating teams – Bagh Stallions, Mirpur Royals, Muzaffarabad Tigers, Overseas Warriors, Kotli Lions, and Rawalakot Hawks those will be battling against each other in the league.
Malik will lead Mirpur Royals, while Bagh Stallions and Muzaffarabad Tigers will be captained by Shadab Khan and Muhammad Hafeez respectively. Whereas Shahid Afridi who is also the brand ambassador of KPL will captain Rawalpondi Hawks, Emad Wasim will lead Overseas Warriors and Fakhar Zaman will captain Kotli Lions.
Local Kashmiri talent has been selected in the Kashmir Premier League’s (KPL 2021) emerging category. Accordingly, each team has had to select five players in the squad, including two local players in its playing XI.
The Kashmir Premier League’s primary goal is to blaze the talent that the Kashmiri players possess. This can play a key role in helping Kashmir to put itself on the sporting map.
Shehryar Khan Afridi, the Chairman of the Kashmir Committee, had formerly stated that “Sports is the best form to help in the changeover of any part of the world and we have seen how individual sportsmen have transformed their countries globally.”

Senator Faisal Javed and Chairman Parliamentary Committee Shehryar Khan Afridi also congratulated the administration on this revolutionary initiative for Kashmir. They also upheld the league and assured continuous support from the government at every step for the success of the league.
