Why is he free?
“I hear you are coming to Lucknow for Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Have you seen this video of violence? (She held a mobile phone showing a jeep running over a group of farmers, which Gandhi claimed is from Lakhimpur-Kheri) Why hasn’t this man been arrested? Leaders like us who want to visit Lakhimpur Kheri have been put under custody without any FIR; I want to know why is this man free?”Gandhi sends in the video.
She also asked, Why isn’t it supposed to sack the Union minister Ajay Mishra Teni by now? According to farmers, that vehicle that ran over one of the farmers in Lakhimpur-Kheri was Teni’s son Ashish.
“When you sit on the dais for Azadi ka Mahotsav festival today, Modiji, please remember that we got our Independence because of the farmers. Even today, their sons protect our borders. Our farmers are in trouble for months and raising their voices, but you have been ignoring them,”the Congress general secretary further said in the video.
Gandhi also added further that she insisted Prime Minister Narendra Modi make a visit to Lakhimpur-Kheri and understand farmers’ pain. They are the country’s soul, and as being a Prime Minister, it is a humble duty to protect them.

On Sunday, around eight people have lost their lives in Lakhimpur-Kheri. And this had happened when the leaders of the farmer were coming back from the protest against three farm laws. According to the protestors, the Union Minister’s son mowed down four farmers by his car. However, according to police, the other farmers beat up to the death of other 4 people.
Ajay Mishra Teni, the union minister, denies all the allegations charging his son by justifying. The justification of Ajay Mishra Teni was that the protestors were throwing stones firstly, which led to the loss of control while driving. Due to this loss of control by the driver, the accident happened. So it was not intentionally.
The state government cooled down the matter by negotiating with farmers on Tuesday. They assured the compensation to the family members of the dead farmers and a government job to one of the members. The government will also charge an FIR against the minister and his son.
