The Olympics are about to begin in the coming month. Tokyo is going to host the very tournament of sports. The Tokyo 2020 President said that she is 100% sure that the game will go ahead. One of the biggest sport in the tournament is football, and the fans show massive support to their favorite players. One of the most popular players is Mohamed Salah. Mo Salah is the professional Egyptian Footballer and captain who also plays for his club Liverpool for the Premier League.
But it has been confirmed that Mo Salah is unlikely to represent Egypt in the Tokyo Olympics this year. Salah has prior commitments to his club, Liverpool, to play a full part in the club’s pre-season preparations of the Premier League Campaign. The Egyptian Football Association’s president, Ahmed Megahed has announced that Salah has filed a request to Liverpool to play at the Olympics.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the safety rules will be strict for the event, as it gets heavily crowded and almost impossible to manage the social distancing. Thus the rules will be tight, so if Salah is allowed to travel back to the games after the Primer League opening match at Norwich City, that would be a great deal.
Egypt is determined to have Mo Salah on the team for the games. FIFA norms don’t allow the release of players for the Olympics, and Liverpool is already playing without his star player, Salah, at the African Event, Cup of Nations. Liverpool will probably not allow the petition of Salah for releasing him for the Olympics.
Egypt is a potentially strong team, but the missing world-class striker could be a loophole for the team. The attacking side is a crucial feature for the team and losing such a key player could be risky for Egypt National Team.
