Russia is testing a covid vaccine for child aged 8 and above. Vaccine will be available in the form of nasal spray.
Russia has set a benchmark by developing a covid vaccine, Sputnik V and it’s single dose version Sputnik lite.
Russia’s Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology has started experimenting with a nasal spray of its Covid-19 vaccine in children aged 8-12 years old.
Alexander Ginsburg, who heads the Gamaleya Institute and also took part in the production of the covid vaccine said: The vaccine won’t be ready by 15th September.
Nasal spray under clinical trials :
The spray for children uses the same vaccine instead of an injection, a nozzle is used for safety compliance and user-friendly administration because children of such young age tend to resist needles.
“We are inoculating our little (patients) nasally, we are just administering the same vaccine as a nasal spray.”
So far, no side effect has been observed in the clinical trials.
The first-ever registered Covid vaccine of the world was developed by the same group of researchers in Russia.
