Russia tests Covid 19 nasal sprays for children

Russia is testing a covid vaccine for child aged 8 and above. Vaccine will be available in the form of nasal spray.

Russia has set a benchmark by developing a covid vaccine, Sputnik V and it’s single dose version Sputnik lite.

Russia’s Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology has started experimenting with a nasal spray of its Covid-19 vaccine in children aged 8-12 years old. 

Alexander Ginsburg, who heads the Gamaleya Institute and also took part in the production of the covid vaccine said: The vaccine won’t be ready by 15th September.

Nasal spray under clinical trials :

The spray for children uses the same vaccine instead of an injection, a nozzle is used for safety compliance and user-friendly administration because children of such young age tend to resist needles.

“We are inoculating our little (patients) nasally, we are just administering the same vaccine as a nasal spray.” 

So far, no side effect has been observed in the clinical trials.

The first-ever registered Covid vaccine of the world was developed by the same group of researchers in Russia.

President Putin was seen flaunting his country’s name with pride. He took huge pride in his nation’s highly qualified scientists and researchers.

Recently, Russia has seen a spike in corona cases that serves a very alarming situation.

Most of the major cities were closed again and Covid guidelines are implied.

Special Covid hospitals open up again to cater for a higher influx of patients.

Moscow authorities announced the enforcement of wearing masks and gloves on public transit and other public places, unable to abide by the law could result in fines of up to 5,000 rubles.

The infection rate in Russia has jumped up to more than 50% in the past one week.

Russia reported 14,723 new COVID-19 cases, the largest one-day case tally since February 13.
