South Africa went to the Caribbean Islands for a five ODI and five T20 series in June. The host West Indies tried hard to pull each match in their bag, but unfortunately, South African’s were better prepared than them. They seized the ODI series with a 5-0 score, and on Saturday, they even managed to put a closure on the T20 by winning it with a score of 3-2.
South Africa registered a 25 run victory over the West Indians, thus seizing the T20 series too. Tabraiz Shamsi, a left-handed orthodox spinner, gave the most economical performance on Saturday’s fifth and final game. He was elated with the superb win on the host team and felt short of words in describing his feelings. He tweeted,
“Words cannot express how I feel right now…that was a very, very special series to be a part of! Super proud of what our squads have achieved….looking forward to the next one, Ireland, here we come.”
The third match in the five ODIs was a nail-biting one, as South Africans put their all efforts to win the match by one run. West Indies and its fans were heartbroken with the defeat.
Next Series of South Africa
The next series of South Africa will be against Ireland of three- ODIs starting from 11th July. The team is all pumped up after the thrilling win over West Indians. Moreover, the head coach of the team, Mark Boucher, believes that the team will play with all its potential in the upcoming Ireland series.
The team has been doing training with the dry pitch and similar conditions as the Caribbean. According to the coach, the dry pitch is not an easy one to chase a total. Consequently, they are building up their strongest line-up to create a massive total and bag up the game. And the team will probably face similar pitch conditions in the upcoming T20 World Cup and the IPL, and it will happen in Dubai.
